Forrest Guittar, Director
About the Director
Forrest Guittar , Director of the Festival of Faith and The Arts, is a graduate of the Conservatory of Music, University of Missouri – Kansas City. A former educator, he has served as Minister and Director of music for over thirty years to congregations in the Kansas City, Atlanta and Denver areas. His experience extends to community based arts organizations, as Artistic Director of Music Atlanta, Conductor of the Atlanta Master Chorale, and the Festival of Sacred Arts at Cherry Creek.
As a choral conductor and singer, he has studied and performed with a lexicon of American and internationally recognized choral and instrumental musicians, including vocal studies with Richard Knoll, choral and advanced conducting with Dr. Eph Ehly, Roger Wagner, Helmuth Rilling, John Nelson, John Rutter, Jester Hairston, Anton Armstrong, Moses Hogan, The Kings Singers, and numerous others.
In addition, for eighteen years he studied and performed with Robert Shaw, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus, acclaimed Chamber Chorus and professional Robert Shaw Chamber Singers. In this capacity he participated in over thirty recordings, receiving numerous Grammy nominations and Awards, performed at Carnegie Hall some dozen times, and toured Europe and throughout the United States. Following the passing of Robert Shaw he continued to perform as a member of the Robert Shaw Tribute Singers.
Following re-location to Denver, he continues to perform in conjunction with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra Chorus and with multiple other ensembles in the greater Denver area.
